ADENOMUNE™ II
ADENOMUNE™ II
Hemorrhagic Enteritis Vaccine Live Virus for Turkeys
-
Description
ADENOMUNE II contains a live avirulent strain of hemorrhagic enteritis virus and is presented in a lyophilized form. Adenomune II aids in the prevention of disease caused by hemorrhagic enteritis virus. Hemorrhagic enteritis (H.E.) is a viral disease of young turkeys usually occurring at 6 to 12 weeks of age and characterized by enlarged mottled spleens. Although H.E. infected poults may not exhibit clinical signs, damage is silently occurring. H.E. virus suppresses the immune system, which decreases the bird’s ability to respond to vaccines and increases the bird’s risk to secondary infections such as E. coli, fowl cholera, and Newcastle disease.
Indications
ADENOMUNE II is recommended for use in healthy turkeys at five weeks of age or older using the drinking water route of administration. Turkeys vaccinated at a younger age may not develop adequate immunity due to maternal antibody interference and may require re-vaccination.
Administration
ADENOMUNE II is administered in the drinking water. Do not rehydrate the vaccine until ready to use. Prior to vaccination, drinking water should be withheld from the flock for a short period to stimulate thirst. Rehydrate the vaccine using non-chlorinated water. Replace the rubber stopper in the vial and shake well to thoroughly dissolve the vaccine.
The mixed vaccine is to be administered in a two to four hour supply of drinking water allowing 10 gallons of water containing 1,000 doses of vaccine per 1,000 turkeys. The water should be buffered with evaporated skim milk or with powdered non-fat dry milk. Occasional remixing of the vaccine water two to three times during the vaccination procedure aids in assuring uniform dosage for all birds.
